Default Electrical Issue

Hey guys, I hard wired my dashcam into my hazard light, because I needed a constant power source, and the dashcam works fine, but now my remote fuse as well as my dash light fuse keep blowing. I disconnected everything and it is still doing it. Any ideas?

Maybe you created a short somewhere when you were hooking it up?

I am not an electrical guru. I'm not even a novice.

That out of the way, it certainly sounds like you created a short (like vtecaddict said).

When we wired up my car on Saturday, I was very fortunate to be in the company of some folks who already knew the S2k fuse box pretty well. We ended up tapping directly into some available connectors in the fuse box. Chris (Natural Aspirations) suggested we use an appropriate spade connector and not even bother with the add-a-circuit method.

In the picture, you can see labeled battery and ignition. That's what I used. (that's not my picture, btw, I just found it on the 'net and it's perfect)

That doesn't help much with your existing problem of fuse blowing, though. I googled a bit and came across some interesting threads with various suggestions. Loose ground was one. Another found a blown out bulb in his cluster (in an Integra). Others also suggested confirm unused wires to an aftermarket head unit aren't uncapped and causing a short.

I'm just reading off of other people's threads, but maybe one of those will point you in a direction.

Thanks for the reply, I'll look into wiring it into that point on the fuse box. I think that the draw is too high on the circuit that I tapped into, and it's blowing the fuse. My clicker works again after I replaced the fuse. Hopefully switching + power source points will fix it, until then I think I'll live without being able to read my RPM numbers at night.

just came across this thread. i do think its drawing too much power. you can try upping the fuse to a higher one (not recommended though) or try finding a new power source. '

i would try taking everything apart and putting it back to normal to double check and see if the draw of power was your issue. (if not, then must be something thing else)

keep us posted

Oh yea, I fixed this. Long story short, don't ground anything on the window pillar.
