...I agree to a point...but bitching about it at least makes people aware, and perhaps when voting rolls around...changes could be affected.

You have to figure that if a company like a motorcycle shop has to pay unqualified young people all 10/hr then the higher qualified people for that position will just be shit outa luck, they can work for the same 10 bucks....or they can just piss off.

It's not like there is more money to go around for that motorcycle shop. Your basically taking money out of one persons pocket to give it to another. The people who will suffer hardest is the woman in the apparel dept. who's 35 and has no planned future, she'll have a damn hard time paying for a child thats for sure. THAT is the group of people being hurt by this.

the people your helping is, young unqualified teens, and unqualified adults who are on the bottom of the food chain perhaps due to work ethic or they're simply not useful to companies. Why reward these people at the cost of the others? again...sounds like communism. In the end, why work hard or try to exceed expectations....If every American gets the same pay.

GO TO SCHOOL, MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL HOWEVER YOU HAVE TO.

i understand...

but the decision itself...is based on macro-economic principles...so there's no point complaining about it on a micro level.

so my viewpoint is...just gotta deal with it.

With the consideration of the poor economy, lose of homes, higher min wages, higher oil, electricity, and overall expenses, how much has your boss, or yourself if you're an owner raised your price by?

Actually I've lowered prices since the economy is so bad. plus the winter months are really slow for me.

I think the point of raising the minimum wage is to help people out with inflation, but in turn it also creates inflation....yeah....kind of ironic, no?

Man, I remember min wage used to be $4.25 when I first started working.....LOL

increasing minimum wage lowers the unemployment rate. it increases consumer spending and GDP and increases tax revenues accordingly.

Just depends on what type of business you are in. If your business is a commodity business it is dictated by costs and you will raise your price. If you have high margins, because of the weakening economy you will lower your price to the point where you fill capacity. But there is a fine line because many people can't set prices for new customers differently then old customers they may keep their prices the same so that when things get better they don't have to raise them. Or they could take advantage of their niche position and customer loyalty (laziness) and raise their prices. Every business is different and you would be wise to not impute lessons from one industry on to another. My fees will be half on our next deal because of the economy, but that won't impact our previous deals nor the deals after it. At the same time we are working on a deal where our fees will be double but contingent on performance.
