A good problem to have
Here's the deal: I put out a poll asking what I should get to replace my S on SoCalEvo.net. The options are: 1) ride out the lease on my S and get an Infiniti GT-R in '08; 2) trade in the S for an Evo IX MR (I had an Evo VIII and loved it); or 3) trade in the S for a 997 Carrera S.
The discussion there is about me becoming a prick if I get the 911, the hassle of cops w/the Evo or the Porsche, etc. Any input?
I am looking at Sept. or so if I do the Evo, April '06 if I do the 911 and early '08 if I do the GT-R. The 911 and GT-R (based on current info) will be close enough in cost/month. The Evo is obviously much cheaper (and I mean that in every way), but still so fun to drive.
The final option is to just keep the S and buy a second sedan-type car and pay off the S.

But...but Chris your a prick already?! JK!!!! I say forget the Evo because you had it already. The GTR ehh its ok the Porsche ehh ok too, save some more cash ride the lease on the S and put a gangster down payment on a 360 or good used SL55. There are alot of cars out there bro and I know you know it. My 0.02

hard call Chris.. if you want speed for cheap, I'd go EVO.. you can mod the crap outta that car and make it a little fire breathing beast...
911 would be an awesome way to go.... provided you don't pay for maintenance...
gt-r.. hrm.. I dunno.. I'm a fan of the r34.. hard for me to go for the new one yet..

A used F355 might be within reach, but the maintenance will kill me. Ditto for the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
I did my homework and the Carrera S is about my realistic limit. I could probably get an SL55, but I am not middle-aged nor having a crisis yet... LOL

As for the Porsche maintenance, it's double what the Evo was, about on par as my dad's LS400 was. Steep, but not too bad.
The next GT-R is supposed to have a Cosworth-engineered 3.7L twin-turbo V6 with 450 horses, suspension tuning by Lotus, AWD, etc. I just don't know what it'll look like. I've seen all the prototypes and concepts, but no one knows what the final product will look like. A LOT hinges on that.

Considering you've already had an EVO, why not wait a little bit and mix it up a bit and go for the 997 S. Should give you plenty of time to enjoy the car till the GTR comes out. Personally, I wouldn't make a latteral move to another EVO (even if it's the MR) unless you really prefer it that much more than the Porsche and can use the extra $.
Regardless of what car you drive, there will always be people who are jealous and will classify you based on what you drive so if that means you're a prick...then so be it. Human nature sad to say.
