After the many tickets I've recieved in the past, I've learned to not admit to it. If the cop asks "Do you know why I pulled you over?" I usually reply "I thought you knew." Just do it in a joking manner, or else you just come off as an ass.

well, my personal experience was that i always admit i'm speeding. when they ask me if i was speeding and then i say yes. i told them that i'm sorry. i had little too much fun driving and i know there is not a lot of cars out here and should be safe. then i told them that i'm sorry again and i will be more careful and drive slower. it works most of the time for me. it's all depends on if you have a mod car or stock car. if you have mod then it's different story. i had mod car and i still admit that i was wrong am i was sorry. half of the time they'll let me go with warning. when i have stock car, so far 4 out of 4 times i got let go without a ticket.
believe me, i live in irvine and if anything when wrong or any traffic stop, about 5 cops will jump on your ass in about .....30 sec.
yea, just tell them you are sorry for what you have done. they'll be much more nicer then you think.
and again, my personal opinion.
