How to get car out of impound before 30 days

How to get car out of impound before 30 days
My friend got pulled over on the way to school and he had a suspended license.
He got a suspended license ticket and had the car impounded. He thought he could get it out the next day but no.
He was told it will be a 30 day hold("Car jail" as the cop said). He asked if he could in anyway get the car out earlier and the officer said, "You will have to go though the sheriff office and take care of that, its above me so I dont know"
Has anyone here done this before? Got there car out of the impound before the 30 day impound was up? And what steps did you take to get it out.
Please help if you can, thanks.

I had a friend with a suspended licence but was only aloud to drive to work or school. Do you have to ask the judge for those conveniences?
I know if its alcohol related and you're under 21, those conveniences aren't available to you.
