Jyeung528, I don't have a preamp so I'll need to get one. I might also have to go with the Utopia's instead of the Dynaudios since most of what I listen to is r&b, hip hop, and rap. The hard part is fitting the amps in my car. I have an MC443M (4x100w), and an MC443M (1 channel X 300w into 4 ohms or 500w into 2 ohms). The problem is that I don't want to take up too much trunk space, because I need room for my golf clubs.
Raptor, how much trunk space do you have with the 2 amps in the trunk?

Definitely, with a high-end system like you have, you NEED to get the Audio Control preamp. I believe it provides 13 volts. NIGHT and DAY difference, especially with a high quality CLEAN amp, like the XTANT, and I'm sure your MacIntosh also will deliver that clean sound to the speakers. There is MORE hidden potential in your high-end DYN'S if you don't have a preamp.
Anyhow, my friend had AWESOME sound staging with his 3-way Utopias, it sounded like the highs were coming out of his center air vents in the middle of the dashboard...almost magical. He also had Image Dynamic IDQ subs...my goodness, the cleanest sounding subs I've heard so far.

Mrs. Raptor sent me off to Ralphs to get stuff for the red wine vinegar beef and vegetable stew she's making for dinner. I come out and put the groceries in my car and here's this guy who obviously just got a new stereo in his car. He's got the doors open, the stereo blasting, and he's walking around, checking it out from all directions. I pull up next to him (top down, of course) and say "Nice stereo. Want to hear a better one?" He replies (a little defiantly) "Sure." I say "Well, you've got to turn yours down first." He does, I crank mine way up (1500W), his jaw drops, and I drive off. I hate myself.

My Solution to the space problem:
10" aluminum footwell sub. Grate goes over it, carpet back down, and you can't tell it's there (except for the foot massage my passengers get). Got the amp, and a 40gb HD mp3 player in the trunk, but I can still fit my laptop and my clubs in there too.
Also note custom tweeter pods (2001) for my Dyns.

My sub sits in the recessed space in the trunk where the tool kit was, with a grate over it so you can put stuff on top of it. The jack and other tools all fit in an athletic sock.
