I've had Blue Cross, Blue Shield and currently with Health Net, they were all good and they were all HMOs. I mean, my doctor who ive for the past 15 years was all part of the network so i didn't have to get a PPO.

I've had no problems getting my MRIs, catscan, x-rays and other crap the past year. Yea I got hurt few times this year lol. Playing too many sports and getting stress fractures, torn ligaments and crap FTL..

I've never had Kaiser. But a friend of mine is covered by them, and they've done OK by him. He developed testicular cancer a few years ago. Even though he lives in San Jose they paid to send him to a Kaiser hospital in Hollywood because that's where their best surgeon for this procedure was located.

all hospitals and healthcare plans have horror stories. personally i dont like kaiser because thier patents are a pain for an out of netork emergency dept. like the one i work in. but when it comes down to it, coverage is coverage- do your best not to leave home without it.

It comes at no small surprise to all observing countries that health care is not automatically provided by the greatest superpower in the world.

And even if paying for coverage could be comparable to the tax burden that several countries require... they don't have to worry about their company being reluctant to pay, refusing to cover, or dropping you entirely for the smallest reason.

I used to be PPO, and health net. But now im with Kaiser.

honestly ppo is the best, but kaiser i really like for an HMO.

My primary physician is good havnt had any problems with him. I like how everything is at 1 place. instead of going from 1 clinic to another... so if i need xray, pharmacy, primary care, podiatry, whatever... its all in 1 place.

for me i dont have aproblem with kaiser i like it

If you have an HMO, good luck with referrals.
If you have PPO, 80/20 you see anyone you like. In or Out network.

You got problem A, says Dr. B. You think problem A should be cared for by a specialist, Dr. C. You can't go to Dr. C if Dr. B don't refer out. HMO likes the primary doc to solve everything, so they can save some cash, thus your rates are lower with HMO than PPO. With PPO, if you don't like a doc, (C-YA). But majority, you pay 20% they pay 80%. Ie: Bill is 10,000.00 for 6 days of hosital. You pay 2G's, PPO pays 8G's.
