My experience at the OLIVE GARDEN (FREE FOOD)
8:30 Seated
8:35 Drinks/Soup Served
8:40 Drinks Empty, Soup Empty
8:45 ????? (Waitress says "wait a sec")
8:50 ????? (Waitress says "wait a sec")
8:55 ????? (Waitress says "wait a sec")
9:00 I am fed up, ask for the manager.
I told him that I have been sitting here for almost 1/2 an hour and I am soupless and drinkless. I also told him, I was so thirsty (Salty breadsticks) that I started to chew on some ice to relieve my thirst. I requested for a new server. (The people sitting next to us was making faces at the old waitress, and the new servers were rasing eyebrows in disbelief. (I don't think she was very popular w/ her co-workers.)
9:01 Food comes out
9:02 Soup Comes out
9:03 Drinks comes out, served by the MANAGER (He must have been pist, that's not his job)
9:03- Service by a new waitress.
9:03-9:45PM Food service was FLAWLESS
9:46 Waitress comes out and says Dinner is on us, and proceeded to clean the table and walked away. I asked her to please come back and accept my gratuity.
She was happy.
9:52 She comes back and ask us if we wanted more food/drinks. I told her I was full and we gave her 18.00 for tip. She looked at us in disbelief. (She was thinking that we were so pissed that we would take it out on her, the rest, and not tip) She was wrong. We went out to eat because we were looking for service and willing to pay for service, or I could have cooked myself. The moral, if you can't do something, ask for help. She lost 18.00 in tip, a verbal warning from her boss, and looking bad in front of her peers.

9:03- Service by a new waitress who wipes her ass on the check before handing it to you and is amazed that you still tip her
I put myself through college working restuarants, not to mention part of high school, and I learned two things - always tip well (as you did) and leave instead of complaining - or you will get more than you bargained for.
Sounds like you treated them well, though I believe in the old adage "A person who is nice to you but mean to the waiter is not a nice person".

The tip was to the new Waitress, the old one did not serve us anymore, after the incident JD,

Same thing happened to me at their Escondido restaurant...
my wife's order came in late and COMPLETELY wrong, mine came in early with the wrong pasta... this was after many of the things that you experienced.
My meal was also free.
