Best friend is tryin to enjoy the 3 years of his life that doctors say he has... 98% chance fatal. Wants to enjoy them here, figured he could live with me and find some work, and a treatment center.
hes 22, has liver cancer stage 4 its gone to lymph odes etc.
Currently hes in seattle with the group SCCA seattle cancer research somethin rather. I believe its part of the fred hutchinsons deal.
what I need to know is..... is there a top notch cancer society or does a local school around this area provide anything???
If he's to move here he quickly must transfer his treatment, hes fearful of a place not as well qualified.
Anyone know of schools or centers???? I hear UCLA does work.
everyones info is much appreciated.

what you need to find out is what type of cancer, etc. UCI has great MDs for cervical/fallopian cancer. Each university will have a specialty based on staff/mds there. Look at the staff more so than the name of the hospital.

I heard most of the staff at university hospitals are graduate students from the school. Or atleast students that just graduated. Alot of them are in training. This is what my doctor told me. But Im sure you'll find an experienced doctor here in socal. But i agree, look at the staff more.

Socal is one of the best places to be for healthcare, there are so many providers around. I'd look into the specialty instead of the institution. Academic medical centers like UCLA will have more cutting edge treatments, they may not work any better than what is more conventional, and you'll have to sign tons of documents, but it may help.
