Need help finding a nice bar, restaurant overlooking the beach
My wife and I have our 5 year anniversary coming up on Saturday. We would like to have dinner/drinks somewhere overlooking the beach. We are open to dive bars or fancy places...Just want to be able to look outside and see the beach. Any suggestions? It can be anywhere in the LA/OC area.
Thanks!

Go to Las Brisas before they file for BK. Path to walk down the beach. (I personally don't like this place).
Go to CLAES. Better location, food, and less people. Hidden Gem.

Since you are in Diamond Bar, I would think the hot ticket would be Newport area (basically due south) or Santa Monica (due west). It's been too long since I've lived in OC to make recommendations there, but that is probably the easiest drive and best choice.
Have driven by Moonshadows (Malibu) a ton of times but never been in. It's literally right on the water though, so it's likely to be nice.
ChartHouse Malibu is great but pricey (you are paying for the view).
Dukes Malibu. Again, right there at the sand and water. Popular place.
Gladstones Malibu, but it has mixed reviews (but the drive down Sunset Blvd is enjoyable!).
The BeachComber at the Malibu Pier -
Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica is very nice and you have options where you drink/eat inside the hotel. http://www.shuttersonthebeach.com/sa...ca-restaurants
Hotel Casa del Mar is right next door to Shutters and is also very nice.
If you want a view of the ocean but not necessarily right at the sand and water, the top of the Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica is absolutely gorgeous.
There are places on the Santa Monica Pier but none are really romantic or particularly noteworthy.

***EDIT*** Found Claes Ovation. I'd like to try the scallops.
