Several years ago, a young Fr. Jose Luis del Rio y Santiago of the Mexican Diocese of Saltillo called to say he was experiencing the worst case of demonic possession he had ever witnessed and mentioned that the head of his diocese had requested my assistance with this matter as none of the priesthood in this part of Mexico had been to the Vatican for exorcist training (Yes, there is a such a school.) His voice was trembling and with good reason--the sounds in the background were unearthly--he claimed to have been battling an infernal servant of the Nephilim. Our best guess is that this particular evil minion must have traveled to N. Mexico via the Spanish colonists circa 18th century and took roost in this area possessing several generations of the pagan Indian tribe the Huachicil. I knew this was to be the most intense test of faith ever; so, I packed my bags with my most holy of articles and headed to the airport in Tijuana where I then chartered a flight to the city of San Esteban de Nueva Tlaxcala. The ride over the Zapalinamé mountains is rough--storm clouds obscure the landscape and cause extreme turbulence--plus this particular evening there was no moon so the town's people illuminated the dirt landing strip with their vehicle headlights--given the crosswinds, it's a miracle we landed at all.
