Awesome thanks for the input Chuck. As of now, I passed the smog a few days ago but the light came on again but at this point, I am not in a rush anymore but I do want to fix it. Do you know if driving it with the light on will eventually mess up the ECU? and I am planning on going the route you did and place the Heatshield on the new Cat that I buy. Thanks again.

Which cat?

CEL is almost exclusively emissions related. As to harm or turning it off I gotta admit this is beyond my experience as I've never had the light illuminate that I can recall. (Knock on wood. ) I believe you can extinguish the light with FlashPro or one of the diagnostic code readers. There are also things you can screw into the cat before the sensor and keep it off.
