Default Thinking of picking up an s2000 in socal

Can anyone vouch for this guy? I saw his ad on autotrader and spoke with him. Everything seems to check out cept he's leaving to Shanghai by the end of the week and needs to sell his car fast.

He's in Los Angeles, CA 90024

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?&default_sort=priceDESC&dealer_id=59587417 &end_year=2007&address=60062&make2=&start_year=198 1&fuel=&certified=&keywordsrep=&car_id=217835249

He claims to have some work done to his car and gave me details, said everything was done at Church's Automotive by Shawn. I tried to call to verify. I'm just very cautious as I really want to get this ride, but the whole deal with him leaving the country and trying to close business is a bit too much for me. We might've worked something out where I would take over his payments and pay off the rest to him and get the car shipped.

If anyone has seen this ride around LA (i know it's a long shot) or can vouch, that would be awesome.

Don't do it. There are lots of S2000s available. The guy's in a hurry and is leaving the country.

I'd be worried too. Hopefully an LA member can actually go check out the car for you.

Edit: Sounds fishy. No one waits until last minute before they leave the country to sell a car on the autotrader.

I talked to this guy. He said him and his son used to race the car on freeways and stuff.

Says it has Toda headers, AEM EMS, exhaust, Hondata IMG, bored throttle body and all this other stuff.

I believe this car used to have some kind of force induction because of the AEM EMS. I dunno, after talking to him I didn't seem interested anymore.

What's a PPI at a Honda Dealership?

It's a good deal, but yea... I wish someone could vouch. I'd imagine if I got in touch with his bank they could vouch for the car or least send some documentation with the paperwork.

That's what he told me as well.

He said it was never boosted, but he got the ECU for tuning the I/H/E (Spugen exhuast).

He said there was some damage to the paint by the left fender. They rolled it or something for his 18in rims. Didn't really understand but he said he'll have it repainted tomorrow.

Did you see it in person?

Nope, I didn't feel like driving 40 miles to see a car and be dissapointed.

He has 18" Enkei rims on the car and had to roll the quarter panels which caused the paint to crack. Told me some BS that his friend owns a shop and can get it repainted for free.

I talked to the guy like 1-2 weeks ago..if he was in a hurry he would have traded it in at a dealer or something. BS'ing about having to move to China.
