If you're looking for the best "bang" for the buck I'd recommend the Flamingo. They just remodeled all the rooms, the location is in proximity to some of the best hotels, it has a monorail station, one of the best pools if the weather is good and it's very easy to get comps.

We just stayed 3 nights @ the Mandalay Bay last week and it's pretty nice. It was my first time staying there, but I got an extremely good playersclub rate during the CES convention. It's pretty much at the beginning of the strip which I originally thought was going to be a bit of a turnoff but honestly we didn't even need to leave, everything was pretty close.
Really it just depends on what you want to do while you are there. I go to Vegas about 15 times a year for work and usually just stay at one of the Harrahs properties (Rio, Harrahs, Caesars, Flaming, IP, Ballys) because they have a pretty good playersclub so I usually end up staying for free.

A realllly good bang for the buck would be MGM Signature Suites. For 3 nites in a NICE room, it ll be under $300 (before taxes or whatever). Check it out as the hotel itself is very nice and it feels pretty "exclusive" even though its not too much $$$.
