I was at the Long Beach Grand Prix in April and stopped by the SCCA exhibit. I signed up for a raffle for the Performance Driving Clinic that they hold at Buttonwillow Raceway several times a year.

I just got a letter yesterday and I won! The date that I picked is 6/16, but that's a week before we move into our new house, so I've rescheduled for 8/25.

Anyone else interested in going? Normal price is $165 which includes an event t-shirt. The class runs from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. A helmet is required.

Description from the flyer:

"Our instructors will take you through a short ground school session focusing on safety & performance driving techniques.
- skid-pad exercises emphasizing car control and braking skills

In the controlled environment of the track, without the distraction of opposing traffic, practice ...
- controlled stopping and cornering techniques
- skid recovery"

They have a web site, but they didn't reference it anywhere on any of the printed material that they sent me.

I'd recommend this to anyone that want to get comfortable on the track. It shouldn't be very fast and you'll get instruction too.

Interesting track for them to do this at...do you know which track configuration they'll use? If it's #1 or 13, there're 21 turns! that's one complicated track
