Can you handle the extra maintenance cost associated witht he RX-8?
Letting it warm completely up b4 moving? Adding oil with every gas stop? You're aware of the 13-18MPG, give ore take a few depending on driving style.....but are you prepared to fill up every 2-3days?
Either way their both nice cars, good luck with your decision.

Get the RX8 over the RSX. I've driven an RX8 on an auto-x type course with 3 other passengers and although it lacks torque, the handling was amazing. The ride is also fairly comfortable too.
I would only get an RSX-S if reliability and gas mileage was a high priority. Otherwise, go for the more fun car, the RX8. =)

Just drove home in my new (to me) silver '04 rx-8 grand touring. I had fun all the way home (2 hour drive) and the sound is amazing. not only does the engine and exhaust sound great, the wind noise at 80mph+ is non existent, its a very quiet ride. Hopefully my mpg isnt below 17 like some people get I couldnt pass this one up, they gave me $7k for my 2000 vr6 jetta with 93k miles. and the car was sale priced at 16900, which is far below retail, and even $1500 below private party. I had some trouble getting it up my driveway into the garage though (1" of snow... cant wait for it to be gone!) i still miss my s2k.... when im done with school and get a better job thats next on my list.

Do you mean understeered?
Either way, that sucks, but if you crash an RSX or any other FWD car sold today on a track, it's due to a fairly large error on your fault -- either because you grossly exceeded its very predictable limits, because you modified it trying to make it go faster, and in the process made it less predictable.
In talking with some of the track officials they said they get at least one FWD car a week that goes into the wall. Said it was much less common with RWD cars. Maybe all the teeny boppers in their Civics & Integras.
Also, the RSX Type S to me looks way too plain. Not to mention the fact that car companies killing the line rarely make the depreciation better.

alright here are some pics... they are just from when it was in the lot, cant wait to take some of my own with a good camera and some real angles.
It takes pics just like the s.... it looks good in them... but even better in person. There isnt one ding, dent , scratch, or anything on it. it doesnt have the factory navi in the dash... but o well, and its under warranty until october of 2008.

hmmm... coming from the s2000.... and not having fully tested my rx8 yet (because of road conditions) the s2000 feels a little quicker... but it could be because you get a big grunt when you hit vtec... and a rotary is just linear buildup of power. neither push you back into your seat, but the speed sneaks up on you. ive also seen tests where they did 0-60 in 5.8 in the rx8 and s, and similar low 14 sec quarter mile times... but those are magazines and i wouldnt quote them. both are amazing to drive and anyone who drives an s, 8 , or equivelent is very lucky to have what they do.
