Default '07 CBR600RR

Hey fellas! I wanted to share my upcoming purchase and ask a few questions.

2007 CBR600RR
18k miles (is that low?)
2 Brothers exhaust
Fender elminator/turn signals flushed
Seat cowl
8k HIDs (I believe)
Frame sliders

My friend is selling me his bike for dirt cheap and I simply can't resist. The bad thing is it was recently in a accident, he fell but the frame sliders took most of the damages. Other than the damages listed below, the frame is straight/engine runs fine/etc. Only the left side was damaged, the right side looks brand spanking new!

Damages
-Cracked tail fairings
-Gas tank is scratched
-No mirrors
-Need new frame sliders
-cracked front fairings

How much am I looking to spend on these repairs? If it helps, he is throwing in the original red/black fairings but I'm not a fan of color combos. Is it cheaper to just paint those fairings instead of buy new painted fairings? Also I noticed his rims are different, are Enkei rims suppose to be OEM? It's black with a polished lip. My last question is, I cannot flat foot the ground and I feel like that's dangerous. Is lowering a bike good or bad? If so what's the best way(s)?

BEFORE

AFTER It's a bit dirty, had to remove the mirrors/frame sliders..

- Enkei made OEM rims on the early 2007 600RRs
- Painting OEM vs buying ebay fairing will be approximately the same cost. OEM will fit better, but the ebay fairings are good and they will paint them however you like
- Lower link will be fine as long as you don't slam the bike. Don't forget to lower your front as well to not throw off the balance of the back.
- Enjoy the best experience you can have with your clothes on

It's a excellent bike especially if you get a good deal on it. I wouldn't call 18k low miles for that bike, but its certainly not an issue if maint. is up to date. There's plenty of CBR's in the 100k mile range. All the parts that need replaced can be found on 600RR.net, along with DIY's for installing them. But it's hard to say just how much it'll be to replace everything, just do a little research on the forum. Either way you'll love it

curious? would this be your first bike?

if this is your frist bike. patch the fairings, get new frame sliders and learn how to ride it first. spend the extra money on gear vs trying to make the bike look good. a 600 is alot for a new rider. personally id skip the lowering links too. it will make the bike handle like crap. im about 5'7 with short legs and i cant touch completely. u just need to get used to balancing the weight and then it wont matter.

make sure to gear up and check out the local bike safety course if available. will teach u alot.

Learn how to ride the bike before you buy replacement fairings. Also, when you're ready to replace fairings or any other parts, eBay will be your best friend. Oem parts and aftermarket parts can be found there for peanuts.

i paid $4k for a black '07 CBR600RR that had been dropped on both sides in the garage. had scratches and a cracked tail. That bike only had 6k miles on it when I got it though. I wouldn't pay more than $3500 for this bike your looking at. Finding oem replacement fairings won't be difficult but will be time consuming and unless you buy used expect to pay a few hundred on the tail alone.

also if it needs frame sliders did the owner put the original bolts back in place of the sliders? You can start the bike without those bolts but i'd never ride it without them. Be sure he didn't lose the spacer that goes between the frame and engine on the left (may be right side, one of them has a spacer...) side of the bike.

I eventually replaced the scratched and broken plastics on my bike with oem used ones for around $300. I ended up selling my cbr in march for $5500 with 10k miles on it. I upgraded
