I wonder how much these Wedsport wheels would cost.

that actually sounds pretty cool!

i would worry about poor quality CF failing (i wouldnt plan to buy a cheapo knockoff, thats for sure), but if it's done right, it could have a great weight advantage.

I've seen carbon fiber wheels with magnesium centers like these Dymags, but nothing all carbon. Well, turns out "an international group of PhDs, physicists, and engineers, using the latest carbon fiber nanotube (CTN) aerospace nanotechnology" are working together in a secret underground laboratory to create the world's first one-piece, 100% carbon fiber wheels. Only, they're not sure which car to build them for first, and they haven't decided on price. But we will definitely let you know when we learn more. In the meantime, if you own a high end sports car, they want your opinion. I think it would make sense to start out with the Z06, but then I drive an old Mopar with 15" steel wheels, so what do I know...
i do have to say i find it odd that they say nanotube tech was used.... nano tech cant get much more than ~30% fiber volume CF from nanotubes, so other products/technologies currently yield much better strength to weight ratios. then again, structural constraints arent the only ones, and since they went with a conventional rim style, it may just come down to (lower density) > (all). but if it's just a slurry with CF used for marketing and little else, it may not be a big improvement over conventional materials.

...guess we'll have to wait and see if this particular one is mostly bling or if it's high function plus beautiful form. and regardless of how good this application is function-wise, the technology has to start somewhere, and in the end, this tech will make for great rims to lust after!

I'm pretty sure that's in kilograms. So 2.76kg=6.08lbs

wow. then I'd just have to take my car to walmart to have them put the tires on...
Dude, with my luck, no matter where I took it, the jackass changing the tires would crack those wheels in about 2 seconds.

Carbon fiber doesn't dent, it cracks. That is scary with a wheel.

yeah it almost seems like you'd want a CF wheel w/ an aluminum lip...to protect during tire mounting and in the event you hit a nasty pothole.

But really who cares, these things have to cost like 20 grand for a set.
