I was just reading that article about 30 minutes ago.

The Chevy Malibu = FAIL.

 

I will back C&D up on the XR4ti. I saw two at an autocross years ago and they were both really quick. I think we'd all like a powerful (170hp was pretty good in its day) turbocharged, rwd car with a bit of practicality. Enough people wanted Nissan to build something like this that they built turbo 240s themselves. Imagine how good a Mazda RX-8 would be if it had the 2.3 turbo on the Mazdaspeed 3. Unfortunately, this car was ahead of its time, probably too expensive for its intended market, and was sold under the name Merkur. If it had been sold as a Ford Sierra over here we might have seen the demise of the Mustang. Well maybe not.

 

I remember all those cars. That was harsh about the Merkur. And the Malibu's fleet sales success should give it a pass. Heh, should be the choice of PI's everywhere!
