Default 11 RX-8's sitting at my local Mazda dealer, anyone else notice?

I was driving to my other retail store and passed the local Mazda dealer. I only pass this dealer when I make the trip to Havelock, about 20 minutes away. When I passed by on Thursday, I was shocked to see 5 RX-8's sitting side by side. But I nearly freaked when I saw another 5 or more.

I had to pull into the dealer and count them for myself. Sure enough, 11 were sitting on the lot of this dealership. The only color they did not have was the dark green. The most interesting RX-8 was the black exterior and black/brown interior combination. It looked "just right." The prices ranged from just over $28k to just over $32k.

I asked the salesman why they had so many and he told me that they built the enitre model year in advance and want to get them to the dealers so they'll be taken care of before owners take delivery of them.

So, my question is this. In your hometown, have you noticed a large inventory of these RX-8's sitting around?

8 at the local dealer, 12 down in SLC and a whooping 17 in Bountfiul (all these dealers are within a 25 mile radius). Your definately not the only one.

Maybe because of the horsepower thing.

in theory you should be able to find a stripped model with cloth seats, etc... for maybe $500 over invoice.... like $25k or so.... pretty decent car for that price!

We have over 10 at our local dealer.... did not look at the next closest which is only 10 miles away....

Have only seen them on the road here. The dealers have none. I really hope the RX8 sells well, I want Mazda to keep supporting the rotary engine.

I passed by a local Mazda dealership and noticed about 5 RX-8s in the very front of their lot sitting side by side.

Another dealership advertised in the paper today that they have 4 in stock.

Yeah...all over the lot here in Oakland...
Funny a few months ago the cars were marked up 10K over MSRP...

Yeah, same deal both in St. Louis and here in Austin. Last time I went by our dealer they had 8-10 in front. I was in St. Louis last weekend and the dealer by my g/f's place had about the same. Not too impressive.

Just as I predicted over a year ago, these cars flopped...big time.
