With any Porsche, be aware the maintenance and repair of them is super expensive so make sure you have enough in your budget for that as well before you buy.

I disagree. Major work can be pricey, especially for the 924/944/968 series, so make sure you get a car in good condition. Once you do, though, routine maintenance isn't significantly more costly on a Porsche than that for any other car.

I sold my 1990 C4 Targa last July. They are great cars but expensive to maintain. Look for a car that has the updated LUK DMF and make certain that you have a knowledgeable Porsche mechanic do a thorough pre-purchase. After owning a 964 I must admit that I am still more dear to the earlier 3.0L SC's and the 3.2L Carrera's, they are less costly to maintain and more in tune with the original 911 spirit (lighter and less frills). I love 911's period.

My family collects Porsches, and while the repairs can be more expensive when they are needed, the cars are pretty reliable overall. As long as you buy one that was well kept, you should be fine. But when you buy a Porsche, you should know ahead of time that replacement parts may be more costly....I mean, it is not a Kia or something.
