I am looking for a used S2000 as well but would only purchase a 2001 as that's what mine was and what i like. The 2002's and newer have the rings in the tailights which I don't like. They made other changes that I would rather be left alone as well. Each model change to the S2000 has taken a little bit of what I love about that car away. Pre 02's are the only way to go IMO. I believe Honda sold out to the general public on the S2000 and I hope the next NSX isn't the same way. I understand it was a smart business move as I see more S2000's on the road now than ever before.

if i read correctly, honda nixed the plans for the nsx replacement as the company itself branches out into more fields

There has been no such confirmation from Honda regarding the NSX. It is all speculation. I am sure they will replace it. I can't see Honda walking away from a segment they set afire back in 1991 with the debut of the original NSX. Let's wait and see.
