very glad to have this re assured... kind of sucks having all these digital read outs you can pull up, i feel like i spend half the time with my eyes on the oil pressure/coolant temp/oil temp/ and avrg mpg. a little over protective i think. New valve springs/stem seals and ignition wires go in monday! that'll help with the paranoia.
Basically, unless you get a warning message or light, everything should be fine.
Good to know. I was also wondering about the seemingly high coolant temps sitting in traffic on a hot day.
Quikag, which vette's have you owned and driven? Is the ZR1 worth the premium? That is, is the whole greater than the sum of the parts, or is a guy better off slapping a blower on a C6Z and pocketing the difference for parts and repairs?

Zr1 not z06 he said... and dude wtf I can't believe that beautiful set up c6z has that valve guide issue
that was supposed to be my dream car. Now I guess I mod a z51 c6? Or make a monster out of my c5z

I searched for a while on corvetteforum and couldn't find any definitive number to what the oil temp should be before going WOT and revving to redline. From the few threads I've read it seems most folks agree at 169F but I have no idea if they just pulled that number outta their behinds. I guess if you've been using 150 for all your Vettes over the years then that's what I'll start doing too. Waiting for the Vette's oil temp to get from 90 to 169 is by far the most painful part of driving my car every day, lol.

LS7 does have some valve guide issues but its pretty easily fixed if you're going aftermarket. If you keep it 100% stock, then don't worry about it with the 5k/100k mile powertrain warranty.

I keep oil temp on my display at the track and around town until I get up to 150F (my personal oil temp level before I start romping on the engine).

'Murica!!
I went to a local cars/coffee yesterday and i usually park away out of the thick of things because i really dont think my $23k 03' vette is that amazing. Out here in the burbs we see a lot of $100k cars coming out and some double or triple that. 458 italia, (which the old guy high centered on a curb and mauled his rocker panals!) lots of Porsche, Ford GT here and there. anyway i was surprised to watch from a distance the good amount of people who made it way out to my retro styled c5z to take a peak! I was like dayum should of cleaned the wheels!!
