2002 Audi A4 Quattro vs. 2000 Audi A6 Quattro
My brother can't decide which is the better buy for around $13K. He found a 2002 Audi A4 Quattro in a 5-speed manual, all-wheel drive, with 70K miles, for around $13.5K. He also found a 2000 Audi A6 Quattro in a 6-speed manual, also all-wheel drive, for around $13K.
He can't decide which to get, he's leaning towards the A6 because of the power difference. What do you guys think?

B5 A4s have some reliability issues. Esp with their turbos. You need to specify which engine for each. The A4 and A6s are offered with different engines. And the A6 is significantly heavier, offsetting any "power" difference.

2000 A6 w/ 6spd would be a 2.7T, otherwise it would have a 5spd. He should get an extended warranty either way, my 99 A4 2.8Q had a couple expensive issues, warranty came in very handy.

I knew you'd pop up in this one. This man is an expert in AWD cars.
And with aftermarket warranty.

My cousin owns a 2.7T A6. It's very nice, but it does have several issues that he will deny over and over again. Though his is old with 100k miles so wear parts do need to be replaced. It is not cheap to fix, I can tell you that. But Audi's quattro is amazing and we got through a terrible storm in NJ. From Albany, NY to central NJ in that baby and we were fine.

having worked at an audi dealer for a year i saw my fair share of both of those cars come in with problems...that said, i saw far more 1.8ts with problems...or course there were more of them made ... but a used a4 1.8t more than a year or two old is not one i would consider. the 2.7t 6 speed was a rarity of some sorts...at least in my area.
2.7t a6
2.7t a6
