For a single all around car the Si is obviously much more rounded and versitile. The S2000 is far more special and tactile. So decide what you need, how when and where you will be driving it and ask if a small 2 seat roadster can fit the bill. Otherwise the Si is a better choice.
Keep in mind that dealers are not budging on price for new the Si and any new car will take a depreciation hit in the first 2 years so if you do get the Si plan on keeping it for some time if you want to get your money's worth.

you will pay more for the new SI, it will depreciate more and it will have a full new car warranty and room for stuff.
the S2000 is so much more car, other than price how can you compare? what does your gut tell you? have you driven both.
cars can be both HEAD and HEART. The SI would be head and the S2000 would be heart...to a large extent...but both cars contain a bit of each value....
you tell us which one you would rather have, regardless of the future Z choice...regardless.

Well I would recommend the S2k to anyone who was interested. I don't recommend the Civic to anyone other than a hardcore Honda fan boi. Find an RSX instead, it has a hatch and looks good. Try a Mazdaspeed 3. It's better looking than the Si (not that the MS3 is really good looking), has a nicer interior and midrange power. Hell, if you can consider an S2000, look for a Mazdaspeed Miata. It's just as impractical, cheaper and uses somewhat less expensive tires. Not quite as fast but it's not slow. I believe it was every bit as fast as the Civic.
If your budget is tight, go with the Focus SVT. Used samples are in the low teens. Unlike the Civic, it's actually a practical car.

Insurance doesnt seem to be that expensive compared to other cars. I recently looked at quotes for insurance on a new IS and 3 Series and BOTH models of each car were about 100-200 more every 6 months! AN evo would run about 250-300 every 6 months!

Whatever you do don't buy this POS. I've had 2 friends with them. Get ready to go to your local dealership, ALOT!

Don't buy an S2k, it sucks. The civic would be so much of a better car. Add a really loud exhaust and you will be faster than anyone on the streets. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.
