I always thought that was a weird car - full size sedan with two doors, not really a great sporty car, and ridiculously complicated when it comes to maintenance.

"ridiculously complicated" = very expensive = 94% deprecation

Just saw a nice looking, running '97 BMW z3 sell for $6500, A nice S2000 will never get there

My dad has a CL600 with the twin-turbo V12. Repairs/maintenance on the suspension and engine to date? Nearly $15K, and that's with him and his friends doing much of the work (he has his own shop for working on his racecars). It's his long-distance touring car (he does a LOT of road trips) and has about 150K miles now. He's looking for a new CL65 AMG to replace it.

I used it for a competition license school and the suspension went wonky on me by the third session. It was a simple fix via software (which he has but I do not) but it's a pain in the neck to have things go wrong on a regular basis. It's an amazing car but it's not for someone that needs a car every day, without fail, and it's not a car for people on a budget. There are still electrical details in the car that don't work and would take you days to trace down and figure out...

I'd stay away unless you are in a situation like JonBoy's family or buying it new. $7500 sounds spot on. That era of Mercedes S Class was some of their best looking cars IMO.

I frequent the Ferrari forum and people there complain about the cost to upkeep and fix their V12 Benzes. The cost is no joke, even to Ferrari owners.
