2006 evo 9 mr
I am thinking about getting an evo 9 mr , and well it seems like the car is gonna be about 40k out the door. I was just trying to get some opinions about the car and what you think about it?
I thought the car was no way worth 40k , with its ugly interior and all. But i went today to a dealership and saw it in person and it looked pretty nice than i thought.
Also for those that may know is this a car that hard to get for a bit above invoice? Cause i know its a limited production car but the dealerships here in the bay area have on average 5-8 06' evo 9 mr's in stock.

Where are you located? I spend some time over at evolutionm . net, and just an hour ago I was reading a thread about 31 to 32k OTD for a non MR.
Consensus on last years MR was that it was definitely worth the extra. As you may know on of the differences on the MR is the aluminum roof. I've got a Best motoring vid where they go through the whole construction process....crazy riveting aluminum to steel yields stiffer than normal results. Then they test an MR by running it through a slalom course, then again with a big magnetic sheet (like 5 lbs.....the amount of weight of a steel roof) They show both runs split-screen. You can actually see the body roll with the extra 5 lbs. that high...
ANYWAY. Everyone says if you can afford it, the MR is definitely worth it. Right now, depending on the dealer (and their over MSRP greed) 4 to 5k more for an MR may seem steep for the goodies you get, but if you wait 4-5 months, I bet invoice can be had.

If you're leaving it stock, the MR is worth it. If you plan to mod, save the $4k difference and use it on mods - you can get up 300-350 WHP with the difference. Or you can pick up aftermarket suspension pieces to offset the difference there, and still have money to pick up some power.

i'd wait for the EVO X vs. the next gen STi, both will be awesome, and i hope STi will feature twinscrolls when 2007 model comes around.

i test drove the new evo 9.. non-mr..
it was certainly worth the 31k on the sticker.. but i wasn't aware that the mr would run you an additional 10k.. that seems a bit much..
if anyone in san diego county wants to test drive an evo, i know a nice salesman who is more than happy to allow spirited drives.. pm me for more info...
