on evom most ppl that got their evo9 mr paid less than 40k. as with any car, if u can talk with fair amount of knowledge, u dont have to pay the mark up BS. the mark up is heavy on Evos esp in CA cuz of the high demand. but pretty anybody who knows anything about cars knock of the mark-up quite easily.

btw ppl who say the Evo is just a "riced out lancer"....i wont do any name calling (although i'm slightly compelled to)..u're basically saying an ITR is just a riced out integra, CTR a riced out civic.....go read up on the difference btwn the lancer and Evo and u'll see the Evo aint just some 'riced out lancer'.

interior quality...i've driven the s2k a lot of times...as well as the Evo..honestly the s2k interior doesn't really beat the Evo by much.

i believe the Evo is still a bang for the buck.

everything aforementioned is IMHO.

Buy the GSR, save yourself the extra cash. Like many evo owners and haters alike have stated, "the MR is approaching a price point that makes it less of a bang for the buck buy." IMHO the MR 6-speed is sloppier than the 5 speed and the throws are longer. It seems to me that the seat bolsters were also softer, and of course many have complained about the "upgraded" softer Bilstein shocks. Refer to Motor trends comparison piece as it will not have changed much for the IX. I faced the same decision 6 months ago and the MR cosmetics were not enough for me to justify the extra cost.

I don't like the "wait for the next one" mentality. The Evo XI will be better yet, and so on...
manufacturers do major changes from 4~7 years (depending on marque & model), and the next iteration just happens to be '07 for both, so i suggested waiting on THAT iteration.

besides, twinscroll + MIVEC or twinscroll + AVCS =

There's been a new Evo every 18-24 months for the last 10 years or so. Same with the STi. They're being constantly evoloved.

the evo 10 is going to be a completely different car. as is the sti. Yes they always will be making new cars and new models but with all the new tehnology only a year or 2 out I think it is well worth the wait.

Also i was looking at evos until i saw what they go for used.

Thanks, I like the seats. They're not as luxurious looking as the S2000's, but they look very sporty.

Where are you located? I spend some time over at evolutionm . net, and just an hour ago I was reading a thread about 31 to 32k OTD for a non MR.

Consensus on last years MR was that it was definitely worth the extra. As you may know on of the differences on the MR is the aluminum roof. I've got a Best motoring vid where they go through the whole construction process....crazy riveting aluminum to steel yields stiffer than normal results. Then they test an MR by running it through a slalom course, then again with a big magnetic sheet (like 5 lbs.....the amount of weight of a steel roof) They show both runs split-screen. You can actually see the body roll with the extra 5 lbs. that high...

ANYWAY. Everyone says if you can afford it, the MR is definitely worth it. Right now, depending on the dealer (and their over MSRP greed) 4 to 5k more for an MR may seem steep for the goodies you get, but if you wait 4-5 months, I bet invoice can be had.
I remember this vid, too. In fact, I think I bought it. I also recall, that for some odd reason, the MR with the sheet placed on it, posted quicker times around the cone course. The drivers said it was easier to throw it around corners, and for that reason they were able to post the quicker times. I'll have to watch it again to make sure...
