Default 2006 RSX

I am in the market for a new daily driver. I have narrowed down my choices and the frontrunner is the 2006 RSX-S. In talking to a few of the Acura dealers near by I have become quite concerned that this car will no longer be available.

The speculation is that the RSX is being discontinued. One dealer even went so far as to tell me that production on new RSX has been stopped and that Acura was planning on introducing, in the near future, a two door version of the TSX.

I generally don't put too much faith into anything a dealer tells me, but the Acura dealers around here seem to be having a great deal of trouble getting new 2006 RSXs. When I asked about a 2006 RSX-S in magnesium Grey I was told that there was no way I could be given a delivery date.

Does anyone have any reliable information about the future of the RSX? Is it being discontinued? Has production been stopped? What is the replacement going to be?

Thanks for any info.

Seems like I read a while back about '06 being the last run for the current model. As to it being discontinued completely... I dunno.

i am 99% sure that 2006 is the final model year for the existing RSX. there shouldnt be an '07. The car is going back to the drawing board and i believe the next one should be released just around the time that the next NSX comes out. visit vtec.net for more info on their model release matrix. i own an '05 RSX-S right now. good car

As a matter of fact, that's what I was thinking too. The new 2006 SI could possibly displace the RSX-S in the overall Honda/Acura lineup. I've been looking at the 2006 Civic sedan and similarities between that car and the TSX are astounding. I wonder if, as the dealer told me, Acura will introduce a two door TSX and in fact it will be a "dressed up" Civic SI.

Yeah the Si has too many goodies over the RSX that are not merely cosmetics. LSD + navi are the most obvious lacking features in the RSX compared to the Civic. If they made the Si with leather and put a TSX badge on it it would still sell like hotcakes!

That's my other choice, or at least one of my two other choices. If in fact the RSX has been discontinued I intend to buy either a 2006 Civic Sedan with a 5 speed and Navi or the SI with the 6 speed (I think or 5 speed if the 6 speed is not available) and the Navi.

Still, I'm wondering about the RSX as I'm partial to it.

I agree, but I think they'd have to add some typical Acura touches like climate control, heated seats, heated outside mirrors, auto dimming mirrors.

With the Acura features it would be quite a car. (By itself, the SI looks to be quite a car).

I just bought an 06 RSX-S. This is the last year. Either buy a Civic Si or wait to see what they come out with. They said it would be a spinoff off the TSX platform.

If U do go RSX-S, get the blue!

The blue is very nice but I'm sold on the Magnesium Grey. My son drives our 2005 Civic coupe which is dark grey and I happen to think the car is very classy looking. If I buy the RSX-S it'll be in Magnesium Grey.

If I buy the Civic sedan or SI it'll either be in Black or Dark Grey.

My S is Sebring Silver, and while I love the color on the S (aside from the fact that it's the fastest color ) I want something slightly different on my daily driver.
