Default 2008 BMW M2

There is a lot of BUZZ going around about the new 2 series coupe and conv. coming from BMW. Its speculated to start at around $26,000 with two engine choices. More than likely the previous 325i's 215hp and the former 330i's 255. BUT this quote is regarding the M2.

Here we go:

I kno its way to early to even speculate but its still fun. lol. Would an M2 for about $35,000 and the 335i motor in it be worth it? If so that thing would HAUL ASS and be in EVO, STI territory. Hell even the 330i motor would be sweet considering the 330i took 5.6 to 60 and it would poss. be 400+ pounds more.

btw, i think the M2 will have the same following of the current M3 b/c its highly speculated that the next gen.will start at about 7 grand more than the current which isnt cheap.

Let me kno what you think

To compete with R32 or RS3, they would probably use a 3 liter engine, but I think it will be priced higher than $35k though to keep the exclusivity...

if there is an M2 it won't be $35K......i can guarantee a 2 series with options will be $35K so I can guess an M2 will be hitting $45K+

yea i suppose it will be priced like A3 which means a decently equiped 330 will be mid-30k already. hopefully they keep the weight low so a tuned 330 will still be fun enough.

I'll tell you right now...

BMW will never be priced the same as equally fast Mitsu's...

I agree, it will be 40 base. It will hit 47k with good options. It looks good though. I hope the e92M3 looks that good (i havent been so impressed with the pics i have seen thus far, though)

BMW made it's mark here with this little jewel.

The 3 series is a nice car, however, many of us have no desire for a 3,500 pound car. If BMW can get a product over here that is smaller and lower in weight I can't help but think they would have a hit.

That 2 is looking very nice by the way.

I suspect a M2 with same engine as the 335i will cost ~$40K.

A Cayman (non-S) costs over $40K and has just 245hp and weigh about the same.

If BMW kept it under $40k they would be some serious competition for the performance market in that price range. Who would want to buy a Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, or even a Honda when they could have a BMW M2 for near the same price?

But it's true that BMW likes to keep their prices too high. Stupid exclusivity.
