Default 2008 Chevy Malibu

Well, the crack team at GM have taken a page from the book of Kia.....

If you can't design anything that people like, copy it from existing successful cars.

Rear shot

Where have I seen that trunk and tail light combination?

That profile looks familiar...

What about the front grill and nose?

I wish I could say that I was surprised....

I was just a little steamed by the motortrend article titled: 2008 Chevy Malibu: Proof GM Design is back from the dead

Included were such choice quotes as:
The new Malibu's clean, crisp styling reflects the new direction of Chevy. It's reminiscent of the glory years of the 1960s, but isn't the least bit retro.
I wanted to call and wondered what rock the author had been hiding under to not recognize the uncanny similarities....

Speaking of driving....

The roads here are wet and they sand instead of salt during winters here.

I was practicing my "advanced driving techniques" when nobody was around....

Now I need to wash my car. Oh well.

Which cars aren't these days? Really it's kind of hard not to be in the 4 door family car market. GM has shown plenty of stuff that isn't a nock off of other makes and is good looking so I wouldn't be too worried about supposed copy cat styling.
Also, at least it's not bad looking (though it could do without the half Acura half Chevy nose). The interior at least looks good.

I hear ya, GM gets me rather po'ed from time to time too.

When Nissan came out with the '04 Titan it was the 1st truck to have a rear door that swung like 270 degrees open like this.

Now, 3 years later GM comes out with their 2007 Silverado with the same type of door, but in their advertisements they of course claim to be the 1st one with such an innovative idea. Are the typical GM buyers so stupid they actually believe this crap?

IIRC they were the first to have the rear access door. On the new truck GM's door probably swings to 275 degrees to they can claim to be first

I am not going to bash the new Malibu. At least they are trying to get it right and will probably be a very nice value. The current one is a decent car if you can get past the lady lumberjack styling.

Motor Trend doesn' have the sharpest people on the staff if you ask me, it is like one step up from Consumer Reports.
