Having just sold the S2000 for an IS300, I'm a big fan of the Lexus line of cars. They certainly aren't the sportiest on the planet, but the reliability and luxury combined with the stock level of performance is just fine for me.

I'd be curious to drive this car when it hits dealers. Maybe this is the start of a sporting turnaround for Lexus?

the IS500 when it comes out will be for the people who want ultimate performance and luxury with reliability. my buddy's M3 has been in service so many times in the past two years that it makes me wonder why he still has it. i finally asked him why and his answer which i'm pretty sure would be the answer of any bmw owner, ITS A M3!-------- not a S2000.

bmw owners think they're driving gods chariot and the greatest thing on 4 wheels. bmw has one thing i give them credit for, a great catch phrase or a great marketing dept. they're not even that great of a driving machine. yeah if you want performance and luxury they're great but most owners don't even know what they have. they just have it cause of the status of owning one. just like my buddy and if you read this its the truth. in all the times i've been in his car i've yet to see him take it to 8k. he's probably afraid it'll blow up.

Every time the Lexus IS comes up people talk about how it will top the competition. Every time it fails.

Modern Toyotas are possibly the most soulless vehicles of all time.

I'm prompted to agree with this statement. They are comfortable, friendly, reliable and cater to 95% of their target demo. At the end of the day Toyota has never put out a "drivers" car that I would want to see in my garage.

Well if you ask me their product line is better than Honda's right now.

Honda does not even offer a V8 in any of their line up.

Hell Acura is still stuck on FWD luxury cars so how much soul is in that

And bottom line Lexus trumps BMW in the reliabilty department.

Just some food for thought

"has never"

2nd to 4th gen Supra. especially the 4th

1st and 2nd Gen MR2

3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th gen Celica's

5th gen Corolla

1st and 2nd Gen IS

toyota has made cars that people want to have in their garage. i had two of them in the past 6 years. with the exception of the NSX S2K and maybe the ITR honda hasn't had too many desirable cars and only one of them is left.

in two years or less they're bringing out three cars that will change the thinking of modern toyotas as being undesirable. GT500, Supra replacement and the IS500. at the moment there's only one Toyota that i would get and that's the IS350.
