Default 2008 Lexus IS500

Performance should be right with the next M3 and current RS4 and priced in the $60's! The ultimate sports sedan???

Hmm. My take is, even if it has morepower than the M3, the BMW is and will still be the act to beat. No single car has truly surpassed the M3 at its own game ever, and I think it will continue to hold that title for a while, unless this Lexus is a completely different effort than Lexus has heretofore put forth. The M3 also has a bit of "exotic brawler" cachet going for it. Lexus on the other hand has the air of being a maker of reliable, really nice vehicles, but not particularly sporty ones. Their leap is much farther than Audi's to rub shins with the M3.

Judging by how Lexus has built their business and buyer base over 15+ years, it's hard to think they'll get this car right enough to dethrone the M3 with the first stab they take.

My 2 cents: It will be nice and far faster than anything yet made by Lexus, but it still won't beat the M3.

Lexus need to send those cars racing before having a pedigree, IMO. an M3, even a slower one in a straight line compared with this IS500, will have more glam and pedigree than Lexus.

maybe toyota's entry into NASCAR will help Lexus out in the red neck racing department...

Probably the ultimate automatic transmission with stability control you cannot turn off sports sedan.

I believe Toyota/Lexus has the talent to do make a serious sports sedan. So far they just choose not to. I'd love to see BMW pushed at their own game, just to raise the bar. If only the IS350 had manual or true SMG tranny and real sport suspension options...

Yeah, Bimmers'll still rule that game, but I'd consider it over an Audi.

I'm impressed with the new Audis. Between BMW, Audi, MB though, its hard to find room for a Lexus when it comes to high-content sport sedans.
