How do you figure? The drivetrain is from a Celica GTS, which is a reliable powerplant.

If I had the dosh, I'd get an Elise. If I could have imported the car into Canada from the States, I'd get an Elise.
I don't care about creature comforts (although I think I'd need a radio and AC...) but getting in/out, etc. Whatever!
Good luck OP, thanks for the post.

My good buddy has an Elise, and I like it. I borrowed one for a weekend and I loved driving it. It's more exotic than a Ferrari in some ways because people in Dallas have become acustomed to seeing F430's and 360's, etc. The car sounds racy with their track exhaust. I too was considering one before I bought my 2008.

I actually left my name, phone number and e-mail address with the salesman so he can call me when a used Elise comes by for ~$30k or less. I am considering trading in my CR for a used Elise. It sounds great right now to me, but I'm not really planning ahead... Maybe I should.
If the dealership did have an affordable Elise sitting around, I would've been a Lotus owner as we speak. That's how much I loved that Elise.

I test drove a 2009 Exige 240. I say test drive, but really, it was a very nice dude from elise talk that wanted to show off his very nice, very new lotus, with less than 1k miles!

Vowed I would be buying a lotus soon there after
However, I still have the s2000, even though I could afford an elise or exige. After giving it some deep thought, and consideration to how I drive my s2000, decided it was probably too much of a sacrifice. Living in WI, I drive my s2000 from April to Oct. And for the most part, the top is down 95% of the time. If its raining, or going to rain, I'll drive the Ridgeline. With the elise or exige, the top will take you 5-10 minutes to remove and replace. As you know with the s2000 its 15 seconds or whatever. Given I drive to work 5 days a week, I need the top to go up and down easily and quickly, without spending 10mins in dress shirt and dress pants, trying to stretch a soft top out- Next, the bumpers/clams are notorious for being high dollar replacement issues. Obviously, have insurance for a reason, but then you have the down time of fiberglass repairs, and worrying about where to park next time.... Seriously, its 5-10k for a 3mph bump, as there are no bumpers.
Would love to have it for a weekend car. And if I ever gave up the s2000, and kept to 1 daily driver, I would love to have an Elise or Exige. So responsive and fun to drive.

It sounds like you daily your CR, though. You sure you want to daily an Elise?
I don't drive recklessly, but that doesn't mean someone else on the road is under the same mind set as myself. With that said, I seriously still want a Lotus Exige, but the likelihood that I will actually purchase one by trading in my CR is very low. My fiance and I considered trading in her Cobalt for the Elise, but we decided against it since her other car, a Mercedes-Benz E320, isn't very reliable, so she'd be out of luck.
After only a day now, I've convinced myself not to purchase the Elise/Exige and to just wait it out until prices either drop so low that buying one won't mean trading in the CR or by simply paying off the CR first and then grabbing a Lotus.
