Default 2009 - Honda Pilot (Prototype Pics)

So maybe some of us don't get excited about SUVs and any news to do about them...but naturally, being a Honda...it gets my attention (not to mention we owned a Honda Pilot back in '03 when they were released)... Here are some concept pics from Honda News.

The side profile is HORRIBLE. Honda needs to make it look less like the concept in this case. I do like the front view and the rear view. Will look nice in blacks and on some 22's...lol

Wow, looks bigger, we could use extra space in ours for camping trips.

Um...all SUVs pretty much look like a Grand Cherokee...and c'mon, we can't fault Jeep for a really solid design.

Given the Pilot shares the framework from the MDX, we were expecting a nice surprise for 2009. I like the dual exhaust in the rear...fills out the rear bumper nicely. The interior looks good too...of course, we can't get "too excited" as this is only the prototype...but nevertheless, the Ridgeline was a pretty close match from prototype (towards the final release) and the actual saleable product.

Let's see...things we WON'T see in the final product...
  • Those xenon looking parking lamps/driving lamps...
  • The big rims...(granted they'll probably be 17s...but not 20s
  • That rear window...I think it'll be reworked...doesn't look quite right
  • And the blue (anyone thinking of the "Nautica Edition" Mercury Village??) with the interior...

It's like a Ford explorer, Grand Cherokee, and Honda Elements mixed together in a blender, then they added bling Escalade wheels to the mix.
not very attractivr I say.

It looks awful. Honda has definitely lost the plot. This in just a latest of series of questionable design choices. I wouldn't have been surprised if that thing had a Nissan or Chevy emblem on it instead of Honda.
