FUEL ECONOMY:

Is Mazda giving these away or what? The only thing that impresses me is the curb weight. I mean its so slow. I dont think I've ever seen 15mpg in my s2000. On one freak all hwy tank I even got 33mpg. I've seen CarandD get higher observed fuel economy on cars with well over 400hp.

A factory boosted RX-8 would have been fun.

That's accounting for their testing too. Sometimes, they got 13mpg for their S2000s when they tested them. Normal driving should yield 19mpg on average for the RX8.

That 0-60 is pretty bad - are they getting slower? Five years in and its time for something new, unless Mazda pulls a Honda andjust lets it wither on the vine for the next five years.

Post a link to the specs and article.

The car has so much potential yet fails so miserably at the engine

totally.

The only thing bad about the car is that crappy engine and the funny doors, which is almost everything about the rx8

The 2011/12 is suppose to have better mpg. We will see.

Even for the s2000, mpg is embarassing at 18/25. There are cars with 100+ more hp or AWD, and are bigger than the s2k that gets 18/25 or better. Chevy has been impressive in the mpg area right now. Check out their new cars.
