where can you even get a zr1 serviced? local chevy dealer?
Plus my local dealer was +very+ mod friendly.
I realize the same dealer was working on pickup trucks and Cobalts, but I was never put off by it.

Given the opportunity to take either one of them for a quick spin, I'd choose the ZR1. To own however, there is NO question. It every possible category of owner satisfaction the Porsche would absolutely destroy the ZR1.

sure out of the factory porsche might be made a bit better,
but when it comes to overall ownership experience like maintenance, modding, parts price, resources from fellow owners/clubs... blah, blah, i think it just comes down to personal preference.

I can see that. I find it hard to choose between the C6 and the Z06. The clean look appeals to me but the extra stuff on the Z06 seems nicely done. Really, none of the cars we are talking about look bad.

Interesting article from Motor Trend that maybe relevant to this discussion.
They recently tested 10 cars to see which one was the best "driver's car." The ZR1 finished 6th, despite killing everything in the competition at the track. By ALL accounts it is simply unmanageable, even for the magazine drivers, & the guest driver, who won a 24 hour at Daytona. The Camaro also did poorly, but the Cadillac CTS-V finished 4th, ahead of the ZR1 !
The best car....was a 320 hp Cayman S, & #2 was the Audi R8 V8 (though they said it's chassis could handle more power.
I wonder if at some point we haven't hit a the wall in terms of no matter what we do to the chassis of a car they can not handle 600+ hp. The Porsche Carrera GT was a handful, now the people are ripping on the ZR1 for being a "white knuckle" ride. Maybe 300-500hp is about all modern chassis design can handle/perfect sweetspot.
