Default 2011 F-150

So I went to the San Diego's Auto show today and the most interesting vehicle I saw there was the new F-150 with the 3.5 V6 Twin Turbo Ecoboost motor. The motor produces 365 hp and 420 torque! That is 50 more hp and torque than the old 5.4 L. The sales rep was saying that the MPG rating on the V6 TT is 27 MPG highway! Pretty incredible since my 4 cyl single cab Toyota doesn't even get that.

For those that need a full size truck Ford just changed the game.

Ford is the one company lately that just continues and continues to surprise me, and not in a bad way

It would be a lot more impressive if it was a Turbo Diesel. I like the MPG ratings but would you seriously consider owning a truck which historically is kept for 10+ years if it was turbocharged?

All the diesels are turbocharged, and they seem to last a long time/high mileage.

I was reading that Ford is going to be doing a public break down of one of the test engines that has a theoretical 160,000 miles on it. It was recently placed in a truck that just completed the baja 1000.

Not all diesels are turbo... Also you can't even begin to compare a turbo gas to a turbo diesel. They are no where near on the same playing field.

I guess it would be your choice whether you kept it for 10 years or not. I wonder what the towing specs are. My experience is that vehicles with gas turbo engines have been somewhat restricted on towing.

i wouldn't expect this engine to hold up as well as a turbo diesel if its being used for heavy duty all the time. thats why they still make turbo diesel's, for the big boys.

Those big 6 and 7 liter TDs are extremely fuel thirsty..

Let's see some fuel efficient TDs like in the German cars.
