I've said it before and I'll say it again, it needs a smaller, tapered back end like a BMW Z8 or an Aston Martin DB9. The flat wall-shaped back end they have now is the worst looking part of the car and really cheapens the whole package.
While I agree with that it could use that styling element, I disagree that it cheapens it, looks fine to me. It could be better, but it always can be better.

Really? It's like a big plastic butt lid; it's all one piece. It looks like they didn't try to stylize it at all. It's unnecessarily thick looking and just odd. Don't get me wrong, I like the Corvette, I just can't get over the goofy butt.

Not only that, but the worst part about the big plastic butt in MY opinion, is the fact that the transition from the fender to the bumper is NEVER SMOOTH. If you've ever tried to follow a reflection from the fender back, it always goes wonky at the bumper/fender seam.

SUCK.

Best pic I could find showing the issue. It always looks so horrible to me. If the car above were black, it'd be easier to see.

I went with the first pic I saw that showed what I was talking about, because I didn't want to scour the internets for too long.

Most of the pictures that are high-res enough to show the issue I'm talking about have been photoshopped by someone, but I guess I'll go look again for you. Hang on.

[edit] Okay, found one. Technically, this is not a "stock" Vette either, because it showcases a covercraft thingymajiggy, but I doubt that affects the funkiness shown in the reflections of the bumper/fender merger:

[edit] This is a C5, but the issue is illustrated again:

It's kind of funny, I actually saw a shiny black c6 on Saturday that was exhibiting this problem quite well, and considered snapping a picture for this thread, but I couldn't decide what would be more ridiculous: Snapping a picture of a stranger's car to show strangers on the innernets, or explaining to my girlfriend why I was snapping a picture of a stranger's car to show strangers on the innernets.

Oh well.

Anyone mention the piss poor fitment of the S2000 rear bumper as it lines up to the passenger side rear fender?

zdave87 - I've noticed that on a bunch of cars. My 2008 doesn't have that problem, though, for whatever reason. My old 2004 had it, though.

If they are taking cues from the Camaro, then no, and no one in the car will be able to see out any other direction, either.

Not to drag up an old thread--but have you ever noticed on the first generation Scion xB on the rear bumper on the bottom part how Toyota had to use 2 pieces instead of one?

This may be as much disinformation as anything else, but....My understanding is that the Corvette in GT trim has to run a 5.5 litre engine. The thought was that the new car would be build around an engine of about that size with the size/weight scaled to give a good weight to hp ratio. Now if the Vette came in smaller/lighter with the 5.5, the question would then be whether the sanctioning body force them to lower displacement again for the race car.

It wouldn't really matter in terms of Z06/ZR1 if their racing car's engine was limited, since the unit that they use is already smaller than the LS7. I swear, the C6R is the most class limited car in Le Mans classing history. (Well not really, but it is fun to complain anyway.)
