Default 2014 Pilot Touring Full Size Spare / Need Foam Expert

Hello,

We decided to get a full size spare do to a tire blow out that happened to my wife. We never trust the donut spare that comes with our 2014 Pilot Touring, so we were lucky to purchase a full size spare - Part # 08W18-SZA-101.

It's a chrome wheel so once we have a tire mounted to the wheel we want to protect the chrome face. But we're currently trying to find what kind of foam would be best to place between the wheel face & the spare compartment area??

I've been looking for a foam that's not too soft but able to protect the wheel under the conditions of heat, water, non-denigrated but also can form around the wheel.

Anyone have any ideas?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Did the same with my wifes MDX. Got a fulll size spare, bought a spare tire cover and have that up under the MDX. No issues, ever.

Thanks again for the great idea!!

Chrome? Nobody buys chrome wheels anymore.

No, it's a full size matching OEM wheel.

darcyw - Thanks for replying! I'll look into the 3M paint protection film cut to fit over the weekend!

freq - The Honda OEM Accessory ChRome Wheels offered for my wife's Pilot actually look really nice on her Pilot. They look even better than the stock OEM alloy wheels that came with her 2015 Pilot Touring Wheels. I was lucky to score the exact same Honda OEM Chrome Wheel from a dealer back east of us. This way we can get rid of the stock donut spare and have the same Wheel with the TPMS installed so "If" my wife ever gets a flat again we can use the FullSize Spare. If I were to message you some pics of the OEM Pilot Touring Chrome Wheels on her SUV you'll sed that they look pretty good. Now I just need help finding some Foam to protect the face of the chrome wheel once it's installed into the same place where the donut spare was. Thanks for your input!
