Sure. It's only won multiple tests and Performance Car of the Year.

As a former S2000 owner and current Gen2 NSX owner I think that it boils down to Honda not building the car that S2000 owners here wanted, light, fast and affordable

i took mine to work today and it is fun every time I drive it, just like the S2000 was (but without the feeling of standing next to a chainsaw)

Who here wouldn't buy an updated S2000 with the new electronic tech in it (nothing crazy, I'm talking bluebooth, streaming audio, stuff like that) and a slightly juiced Civic Type R turbo motor making 320hp for $40-45k? I'd buy one in a heart beat and it would be relatively easy for Honda to merge the turbo motor with the S2000 chassis.

Yes, but Honda ain't covering that ask.

To me Porsche has done the best job supporting the S2000 clientele via the Boxster/Caymen siblings.

I also think the Jag F type is the spiritual successor to the S2000 but I wouldn't want to own one.

I'd love a factory turbo S2000 replacement with 300 to 350 hp - I'd even go for one for base 718 price. What would be really cool for me is if they could integrate some NSX tech while keeping weight down. A little torque fill with an IMA in the rear, a TMU up front for KERS and torque vectoring... No need to actually travel under electric power, just needs enough umph to enhance the immediacy and response of the car. I honestly have no idea if this is possible, but considering that the Civic Hybrid came in under 3000 lbs perhaps it is. Especially if Honda keeps the raw, unfiltered, 'chainsaw' nature of the S2000. Which I really like for my fun car.

But yeah, I'd definitely be interested in an S2000 replacement with the CTR motor without the hybrid add-ons, whether it's FR or even baby-NSX MR. (Throw in an option for an 8spd DTC with tightly spaced gears 1-7 for optimal acceleration and only 8th gear as a highway cruising ratio, btw.)

Jon what's the update on sales figures?

my dealership got a car and still cannot sell it. Both of these facts suggest poor sales. With a hot car my market should never have been shipped one:

And watch how many of them sell. It TIED the Audi in EVO car of the year and neither won.

It has an over-electrified and over-complicated drivetrain. It's a very nice looking car, and a i think it was just an engineering exercise.
Sorry I don't hate it or anything. The electric parts of it just don't do anything more special than the Audi does without it.
Its' relevance will pass, very quickly. Over complication, and barely a foot note in automotive history. The original NSX will have a much larger footprint in history.

I'm happy you are happy with it though. Hopefully you'll get the poster and put it up in your garage.

Same sales as the R8.

People want to spec the cars to their own preferences, not pay over MSRP for a car that the dealer spec'd.

Damn near, I ride them. Takes a damn good rider and launcher, but can be done mid to high 2's on a modern literbike. One of mine will do 2's but not me as pilot. Takes a f load of skill to launch a bike off the line if it doesn't have L control.

Acura NSX US car sales figures

269 sold for 2016. I know one of those is at my local dealer so I don't think that number reflects end consumers.
