The 5 series has historically been more a workhorse than the sportier 3 series. Depends where you focus is in priorities.

Most of the major issues popped up after factory warranty expired (in the 60-70k area) and I was on a third party extended warranty, so it was too late. Also found out that the third party warranty didn't cover CBU cleanings.
The X5s with the same motor had fewer issues due to heavier load on the motor with the extra weight.
