Default 335i lease

My IS300 may be unloaded sooner than I thought, so I am considering my options. One of my top ones is a 335i sedan lease, 3 years, 15k miles/year. So, 3 year 45k mile lease all under factory warranty and factory maintenance. I checked the bmwusa website and they quoted just over $600/month for a 335i priced just under $45k. That seems good. I can't recall what the cap. cost reduction was (if any). I also know I'm stuck with the sales tax here in Texas, so that's another 6.25% on $45k or $2,812.

So, I'd like to hear some other numbers for at least a partial comparison. I know there are several here who has leased 335i's.

Strikes me as a lot of dough. Have you considered European delivery?

$600 looks like a great deal, but it's really meaningless without knowing how much to put down, you have to check with a dealer, there will be extra fees that freak you out. Couple months ago I went to BMW to lease the Z4, there was a very attractive lease offer, $350 a month and around $2500 down, after finalizeing everything, and upgrading the yearly miles to 15k, I ended up with $590 a months and $5900 down. I didn't lease it after seeing these numbers, but I think once you see a dealer, the 335i lease will not be that cheap.

wow! my payments on ~$31,000 at 6.5% are $625/month over 5 years. Equal payments for a lease on a car worth only 50% more sounds like a lot of money to me.

On the other hand, if that's slightly below the point where the equity would equal out if you bought one and sold it at 3 years, it's not a bad deal at all. I'm just surprised to see how expensive leasing is, especially if that is a 'great deal.' I guess you've got to pay to play!

The numbers on the site are somewhat higher than what dealers are doing deals for, at least up here anyway. I picked up a 328XI 6 weeks ago for my wife, $39k sticker $415 with tax and $738 total down (security deposit waived), 3 years/12k a year. $600 sounds about right with a $45k sticker, haggle on the down payment though.

That's a great deal you got, the BMW dealer I went to, wasn't even considering negotiating for a single dollar. even though Z4s weren't selling a lot.
I guess it makes a big difference checking different dealers.

For around $2500 down you should be able to get it at around $590/month (tax included).

I did a European Delivery lease on my 335i sedan. Here's how you figure out your payment:

Go to the forums on Bimmerfest.com and grab the invoice pricing in the E90 forums. Then grab the current lease deals in the Ask-A-Dealer forum.

For Euro Delivery, you can reasonably expect to get the car for $1K over ED invoice, best case. Calculate ED invoice + options +1K to get the cap cost. Next, add up the cost for US MSRP for the same optioned car; use this to calculate the residual value (that's the beauty of the ED lease; you still use US MSRP for the residual!!).

The money factor used to calc the lease payment is generally whatever you see in the Ask-a-Dealer lease rate post plus two adders: +.0002 for a dealer mark-up, and +.0003 for Euro Delivery. Yes, the lease rate is higher for ED, BUT BMWFS will make your second payment for you while your car is on the boat. In the end, it's a wash.

There is an up-front acquisition fee between $625-$825, negotiable w/ the dealer.

Not sure how tax in TX works. In CA, the tax you pay each month is based on the lease amount (cap cost minus residual), divided by the number of months in the term.

If you decide on domestic delivery instead of ED, figure on $2K over US Delivery invoice instead of $1K over ED invoice. Also, you will have to pay a "MACO" fee (training fee) of something like $400. ED cars don't have this.

You'll also probably have a security deposit of whatever your payment winds up at rounded up to the next $50 increment.

You've been a BMWCCA member for at least a year, right? Great, because they'll send you a $500 rebate for buying a new BMW!

FWIW, my lease payment is $516 incl. CA tax (7.75%) for 24mo/24k. Cap cost reduction was pretty low; something like $600. Put down as little as possible since it makes no sense to put money down on a lease. My 335 is reasonably loaded (navigation, sport, premium, comfort access, automatic). Avoid unnecessary options to keep the cap cost down; consider black, white or red since metallic paint colors actually cost more. I chose Alpine White

If I remember right when I went to the dealership for the car, they were running a special for 549 a month on the 36 month lease? after 3300 down for the fees and such with a residual of 29k. after the term
