The target demographic doesn't say anything about MONEY, if that's what you think I'm talking about.

And Barry, remember who donated your S2000 radio to you when you were a starving student....

Don't be one of those "new money" guys. It's great that you started your own business. But if you're aspiring to be a 60 year old empty-nester (the demographic they're targeting).... you're missing out on a lot of good years!

If I bought one I it wouldnt be useless to me. I'll take my girlfriend and two friends with me on a roadtrip. We'll hang right next to you in your Cayenne Turbo with your extra seat and negligible amount of extra cargo.
Sure you would. Because I'd be towing a trailer with the S2000 in the back and have the rear hatch loaded with extra tires. This weekend I hauled the S, a set of snows, a set of R-comps, and two sets of Hoosier Wets.

Story of my life

On another note, I always find it humorous on car forums when posters speculate "Rich people who can afford this car would do THIS" and "People driving a $129481094 car would do THIS and not THAT!!"

I never knew the world had so many Robin Leaches. Hilarious. The next step is going to be "Well, black people do THIS with their cars and white people do THAT!"

No worries, C. I'll always be fiscally responsible. Why do you think I held off on the BMW 135i? I have other important things to spend money on. I will definitely scratch this automotive itch soon. 3 years goes by quite fast! You left a CD in the unit btw...lol

Congrats again on the job and on the Cayman-driving girlfriend (didn't she have an M3?).

And I was wondering where I put that Celine Dion CD....

Haha. I dont think it was Celine Dion. I was jamming out to about half of it though.

Yeah, she had an E92. She found the Cayman S quite sexy. You wouldnt believe her other cars if I told ya. Ironically she's not too much older than I. Life sure deals us all interesting decks of cards.

The problem is that it doesn't even have the utility of a truck.

The rear roofline slopes down and makes getting in the rear seats difficult. I wouldn't want to put a kid nor carseat in there. The trunk port is not large and you could probably fit as much stuff back there as an Impreza hatch. And it can't tow.

So for the functionality of a hatchback, you get this large hulking machine that performs well... but at the expense of heavy wear on the expensive wear items....
You can complain as much as you want about the looks of a car but drive one before you complain about how it performs. If you haven't driven it you don't have a leg to stand on. Plain and simple.

Have you ever sat in an X6? I doubt it if you are complaining about trunk space and rear seat capabilities. The rear seat is more comfortable then most sedans I've sat in and really roomy since it's designed for 2 adults. The trunk is HUGE even with the seats folded up so I have no idea what you are complaining about there.

I'm not "complaining" about the looks or the performance. It's an interesting engineering feat. I just don't know who would actually buy one.

It seems like it appeals to people who want to be different for the sake of being different.

I'd get an X5M over an X6M and an M5 over an M6.

I looked at and poked around an X6 at the local dealer and the ingress to the rear seats was enough to turn me away. If I was going to use back seats, X5. If I wasn't going to use the back seats, I'd get a coupe.

I have to admit that I don't "get" the Mercedes CLS either.

1. It's a crossover more than a SUV, get used to them.

2. Can you say sticker shock?

3. If you could afford it, who wouldnt want a SUV/crossover that drives and handles like that?

I guess if someone wanted a "jack-of-all-trades" kind of car that did everything pretty well, it'd be okay. But I'd rather get multiple vehicles to split the "sport" and the "utility" a little farther away.

Can anyone honestly say that they would actually track this "SAV?"

I probably would enjoy it if I had one in the garage, though.

(And turbo_pwr, I think the X6 makes a lot more sense than an X6M ).
