I say boost the S and you will never look at an old Porsche again.

You'd get a quicker S, but it wouldn't scratch the itch for an old school Porsche. The 911 is about much more than performance numbers. The sound of that air-cooled boxer six and the tug of the unassisted steering make the car feel very special.

This thread just reminded me of the feeling I get when I drive a 911. I still remember the beep at a 100 miles per hour. I want one so bad!
i didnt know they beeped when you hit 100...
They (and the Cayman/Boxster) have a variable speed warning that you can set. I set mine at 80 when I got my Cayman S, and it got annoying, so I moved it up to 100 as well.

The 911 is the only car on my bucket list.....it doesn't really fit w/ my needs currently, but I will own one someday.

A friend of mine took me to lunch Tuesday in his new 997 Turbo - what an amazing car! The GT-R may be a better value, and may outperform it, but the 911 Turbo has so much more character.

Yeah that's cool and all but have you heard what a 500whp s2k sounds like? Have you ever been in/ driven one? It's no joke.

A 500 hp S2000 is an S2000 w/ not enough brakes, tranny/diff strength, rubber, and safety. Sure, you can change all that too, but by the time you've spent that much money, you'd be better off just buying a Z06.

Believe it or not, there are people on this forum who have had 500whp s2000's for awhile without any major issues. Also, are you talking about a c5 or c6 z06? you wouldn't even need anywhere near 500whp in an s2k to take them out on a pull.

ive driven and owned several vehicles that can hit 100mph in under six seconds, this is not my goal. The endless quest for speed is a junkies drug. The search for a long lasting relationship with a car that you instantly connect with and feel 'whole' with in a somewhat inexplicable, but still deeply satisfying manner, now THAT is worth a few extra greenbacks...

A 23-year-old 911? Not very desirable in my book, but that's just my opinion.
