92 Celica GT
I just bought a 92 celica GT for 4000 dollars even. It was in excellent condition with 124,000 miles. I've noticed though that it gives a puff of blue smoke on startup when it hasn't been driven in >6-8hrs. I was thinking that it was the valve seals? What do you guys think. I've heard that I should leave it alone until I have some problem with the head gasket or something else and the head must come off. I'm fairly certain it isn't ring wear as it has lots of power and does not smoke continuously.
I have a 1991 GT, have the same problem. Not worth fixing unless you do it by youself. Mine has 98k miles on it, I am thinking of getting 5000 out of it, and it's an auto. You think I can get that much.
Damn i just pm'd you because i read your problems in Barry's thread on his prelude. Yeah my mechanic said no problems just letting it keep doing it. He quoted me 400 bucks plus the cost of a new head gasket.
I have an auto as well and i think you could get 5000 out of it, as i'm tempted to turn around and sell mine. How long has it had this problem or has it just started? Do you run synthetic 10w30 or conventional.
Mine only smokes for less than 5 seconds on startup

OMG ccarnel I feel like we have known each other forever. We both have the same problems!!! I am getting rid of mine by spring break. I have had it for 2 years come June and it's my first car. The oil burn takes a while getting used to. I use 10w30. Castrol actually. I never wanted to spend the money on synthetic, but I need to change the oil soon. If it helps I will buy it. Find me some good celica forums besides www.newcelica.org I probably will be getting a 1994+ GSR teg, or 240sx...tell me more as you find out!
I've yet to find a really good celica forum but have used www.celica.net so far for information. Just wondering about the synthetic because i just changed the mtr oil and transmission oil both to mobil 1. It seemed to do this right after i changed to synthetic so was wondering if i should go back to conventional.
Oh and the shake problem can be cured for cheap. Apparently there are two rubber washer type things on the engine brace that runs front to rear that crack and dry rot after years and not longer does it's job isolating vibration. someone on the celica board replaced it with some rubber they bought at a hardware store like lowes

Funny, I just bought a 93 Celica GT with 124K for $2800. Only issue I have is I have to push the clutch to the floor to get it into first, and I am guessing it is because the clutch is worn, despite being only 24K-30K since the last replacement. Anyone else have this "problem" or experienced it? Can I adjust the clutch linkage, or do I need a new clutch soon?
