The Accident Thread
Whats up everyone. So I just finished reading another accident thread and I had the usual reaction. Have you ever read an accident thread and saw pictures that made chills go down your spine? lol. Its always an eye opener for the lot of us that have never been in an accident to be careful and to be aware that it could happen to any one of us at any given time. So I thought I'd try to start an accident thread.
I had one accident close to the Dragon last year that really woke me up. I didn't get any pictures but I'd like to see and hear everyone else's horror stories (IN BRIEF). Something too look at while we enter a new summer season.
Be careful everyone.

I was a passenger in a toyota celica that hit an oil truck head on, we hit so hard that the seat belt cut through my winter jacket, shirt, and into my chest. The entire dash collapsed on my legs. it was pretty rough,.
It was a beautiful morning in late march with the sun just coming up over the bluffs. The sun was behind me as I was heading to work and it looked like it was going to be a great day weather wise. It turned out the sun was in the on coming drivers eyes and he turned left across my 3/4 ton truck while I was doing 65mph. I veared to miss the passenger compartment of his mini truck and took off his front end. My rear wheel went over his engine block and flippped my truck so I was inverted, going end over end, dropping down into a ditch at speed. In the end, no one was hurt (seatbelts) but it totalled both trucks. My truck was 10 months old with 4,000 miles on it. His insurance gave me $5k more than I paid for the truck new. Be careful when the sun is low behind you.
you guys wanna go down this path? gonna be some interesting reads...
in a nutshell: broke both legs, shattered pelvis, ruptured bladder, etc

. Sorry for your pain though.
I had a BULLITT mustang highly modified and happened to be driving on a bridge over the interstate at about 30 mph when a A/C work van plowed into my passenger door at 75+ mph from the off ramp. The impact sent my mustang flying over 3 lanes to the left and landed on the median right before on coming traffic. the way the road was set up was like so: ====: :========: :==== or street Redlight 200ft on bridge Redlight street. Well I was stopped at the first light as it turned red in no hurry to be anywhere at all. When the light turns green for the first light it also turns green for the Second light. I slowly take off from the first light finally shift to second when I look down the off ramp at the van *I think nothing of it at first* then as I proceed through the intersection I see out of the corner of my eye *a huge ass grill!!!* note this took all of me noticing the van at the bottom of a long ramp when I first entered the intersection and by the time I got halfway through Bam! Contact. The impact was so hard it shattered all my windows, ripped my mag rims in half, shot my headlights down the road, pushed the passenger door half way through the seat! and made a huge tent crease the length of the car right down the center.
I was so bruised from the impact that I could only roll out of the car and crawl to the front where the horn was blaring non stop to unplug it.
Here is a kicker: picture this the off ramp has only directions a Left hand turn and a Right hand turn. There wasn't a single tire mark from the Van trajectory. which means he didn't even hit the brakes. however he continued to move forward after impact signaling that he was on the gas!!!
Me being 18 at the time I was wearing all A&F, $500 oakleys, Frosted hair tips and in a Highly modified Mustang.
I will let you guys guess who got the F'ing ticket.
I ended up getting sued by the driver and passenger of the vehicle because I got the ticket. well because we went back video taped everything about the timing of the lights and the intersections and because I know physics very well *hehe did the math in front of his lawyer* I proved that infact the accident was his fault and that he accelerated through the turn and into my car. They loss their lawsuit and I didn't get sued. I infact got the accident changed to a county ordinance but because I was detained by the officer on the scene *he didn't want me to go any where and the other driver lied saying I was throwing shit at them and cursing them* damn I could barely walk let alone throw shit at theme. I could not gather witnesses at the scene and ended up losing the blame game between me, the cop, and the other driver.
It has really f'd up my driving record. I was just glad my gf at the time was not in the car as she would have died in the impact. A beautiful car was deminished to a freaking scrap metal heap. I was sad to see my baby go (the car that is).
Actually my gf at the time broke up with me after the accident. weird huh you lose a bad ass car and your gf dumps you LOL puts things into perspective!

good stories
Mine aren't half as interesting...i guess that''s a good thing.
First one was 5 of us GI's crammed in a old sunbird. We all 5 fall asleep (driver too) and wake up screaming while the car slides into a utility pole. The force of the crash loaded all five of us into the front passenger bucket
The second was me as the driver of a ford ranger falling asleep and waking up on the edge of a small cliff. As I'm rolling down the cliff I'm thinking my insurance is going to go up, my insurance is going to go up etc. I rolled 4 times into a christmas tree farm and landed on my tires. I was able to restart the engine and drove to a hidey spot to inspect the damage.

I also have another story of when I was racing a truck and after the whole race slowed down to the speed limit and hit an oil slick which spun my car to the side of the road. I barely put 2 dents in my rear bumper from the wall and I was off in the emergency lane when a young female driver came around the corner target fixated on my car and tagged me on the side of the road. Turns out 7 more cars did the same thing I did right after me and the road was actually under contract to be fixed of this known hazard the next few days. *just my freaking luck right*
Well I got an initial ticket but got it dropped due to the above stated fact plus witness reports. I ended up getting a $3000 bill from the county to pay for the damage done by another vehicle to one of their fences!!! I was like WTF!!! all I did was leave a scuff mark on a concrete wall like 3 feet long. I called up the county office who issued me the bill and told them I would be more than happy to take care of my scuff but for them to send me an illegal mexican's bill because I was the only person who they could contact was down right unethical! I sent them pictures of him his vehicle the damage he did as well as him being taken away in handcuffs. I was sooo Pissed! but they dropped the bill and I went on my happy little way.

i hit the gas too hard on cold/salty pavement on an onramp, knocked the rear wheels around about even with the front... went sliding sideways off the high way, adjusted the wheel into the spin but ended up just catching it and spinning back the other direction as i went into the grass. slid through the grass for like 100-200 ft finally hitting a large bush and smashing up the rear of my car pretty well.
this was last month in my S ...
no injuries, no other cars/passengers involved, didn't flip it... so coulda been a lot worse. car is still in the shop though gettin fixed up.

Wow..this could be quite a gut-wrenching thread if it goes on a long time.
My only "good" accident story is back when I was 8.
My mom, brother and I were coming back home after a few days on the other side of the mountains. We were on one of the mountain passes and it was just starting to snow. My brother was asleep in the back (he was 4 or 5 at the time) and was laying down, still buckled. I unbuckled my seatbelt and climbed into the back to grab an apple out of the cooler we had. Sat back down and started eating the apple and forgot to put my seatbelt back on.
We ended up hitting black ice, slid off the side of the road, hit a reflector pole, spun and went across the road and off an embankment. I was thrown head-first through the windshield (still have the scar/missing skin on my scalp to remember it by) and knocked unconcious. SIDE NOTE: I knocked the glass clean out in one solid piece with one hell of a spiderweb break
The car probably would have rolled over me if a tree hadnt stopped it. The car came to rest upside-down against the tree and the roof had crumpled, crushing my mom's shoulder in the window. When I came to, it was snowing harder, getting dark and my brother was screaming from the back. I was able to get him out and then climbed up and was able to flag down a car (eventually) to help. Not a lot of traffic up in the mountains in late evening during snow....
In the end, my mom was the most injured, with lots of internal bruising/bleeding, a crushed shoulder and lots of lacerations, possibly more that I just dont remember. My brother ended up badly bruised and got a really nasty cut right by his ear. Another 1/4" and it would have BEEN his ear.
I got the gouge in my head and that was about it, really. Divine intervention perhaps that I had my buckle undone. If it was on, I would have been trapped in the car too. I still always wear it though.
