Default Active H1 forums.

Does anybody know of an active forum for the H1. I have been bouncing around in my head about picking one up instead of road legalizing a pinzgauser/unimog 416/c303.

Most of the furms seem pretty dead. Lots of H2 stuff but not a lot of H1 stuff.

The alpha that I like is 130,000$ a bit more then I want to pay for something that is going to get thrashed off-road.

I want something wher I can basically just weld the equipment carriers onto the side of the truck and that can take a big hit. Plus carry at least one full sized offroad spare and still have room for my gear.

I am looking at the 95 trucks with the 350 motor, I don't like the repair costs associated with the big D powered ones. Thought if I could find a 98 D at a good price I would take that as it has the upgraded brakes and traction control system with the decent module.

are you looking to get an ex-military one? I know a guy that has the biggest collection of them in the country....he restores and sells them, as well as supplying them to movie producers.

I used to frequent www.humvee.net about 10 years ago. I haven't been there in quite a while so I'm not sure how active the site is now.

Thanks dave. I just brushed over the site a while ago and it looked dead. Looked again and the site is very very active you just have to register to see anything.

They have a tracked excell file of every hummer that has sold on ebay its a wonderful research tool.

No problem. I used to be on a mailing list through that site, and after a while I had to remove my name from the list because of the flood of emails I was getting. That's good to know about the excel file. I've wanted an H1 ever since they came out, but I stopped keeping track since they were so far out of my price range. I found a few on ebay for $20k to $30k (finally) so I might go back to humvee.net and start doing some more research.

I am looking to spend around 30-35K for mine, which means I can actually get the 98. I see the 97's pop up here and there for 30K which means I just have to wait for the right truck to show up.

There is a white hardtop truck 97 up the street from me for sale at 65K with 50K miles. Price is way out of wack but finding a decent one should not be to hard.

Get the Unimog!

I mean, come on- you can modify that car to run on railroad tracks. How cool is that?

I should its cheaper, the only thing is they only go ~65mph tops in the 4040's. Now I could find a 416 with fast axles but it would not be as easy to drive as a H!.

This is a early unimog doka chop.
