Default Acura TLX Future?

Used to read car mags cover to cover and watch shows but no time anymore. looking for someone who may know the future of the TLX and if there will be a type S.

I'm on my second Type S, it's an '07 with an A-Spec package on it. it's old but I still dig the looks and it's been bulletproof with 150K on the clock.

The new TLX leaves me flat compared to my current ride, there is no Type S package if only for looks (bigger wheels, ground package etc) so I may be forced to migrate to an A6 which will cost me another $10K for something comparable but I'd be happy.

Any opinions welcomed.

I'm not sure why the "Type-S" is such a big draw for you. It's basically just an appearance package. I suspect we may see something similar to the Type-S for the TLX, but it may be a few years.

Uhh, what? The TL Type S had larger front brakes, more horsepower and a different exhaust system. (or at the least, different tips). Also an LSD, which I don't believe was available on non Type S manual transmission options.

Hardly appearance only.

S2KNJ, why do you want to get rid of your Type S? I'd hold onto her if I were you, till at least 200k miles.

I really like the new TLX. I agree with wolf pack though, your current Type S will last much longer and is still an attractive car. I'd keep it!

I am in a similar position as the OP. While the design of the 3G is timeless(to me), I have been itching to get something new. I test drove both the TLX and the Q50S. I really like the Infiniti but I am not 100% convinced that I should give up my TL just yet.

Q50S or a Lexus product. Honestly the new TLX is a bore to me. If you have to drop the manual gear box you have a lot of options. Or if you're like me, Hellcat vs. Q50 Eau Rogue. IS350 AWD has a smaller cabin but is nicer drive. SH-AWD > Lexus AWD though.

Wouldn't touch an Audi outside a warranty, pile of junk. Compared to your bullet proof Acura you're going to get to know your dealership really well.

Pictures of my TL-S when I first got her (and when my S2000 was stock)

I still love the looks of it and maybe you can understand why the looks of the TLX leave me flat, always loved the ass end of this car.

had an '03 Type S which gave me larger wheels and 260 HP from 225 (Huge)

my present ride comes with 286 HP over 258, not huge but noticeable I suppose, I don't track the car so the brembos just cause a lot of dust and dollars, interior is black and silver which I dig and I upgraded to the very obscure A-spec wheels and ground stuff.

interested in going SH-AWD next time and again getting a comparable A6 is Pricey

Very nice looking car!

BTW, as I child I lived (4 years) in Basking Ridge! Went to Liberty Corner Elementary school. I was up in Somerville last month to visit some friends and swung over to BR to check out my family's old house, 55 Stockmar Drive, off Mt. Airy Road
