I would want to see what the RS is like. It sounds like more car then the current STI. Which has me wondering what Subi will be doing to the STI in the next few years.

If you're not in a rush, 2017 is just a little bit away.

Agreed. Loud boxers just seem so juvenile. I think we hear the sound argument mostly from the Subie camp because there really isn't any other category where the STI could be considered better (except maybe tranny). Sure it might lose in every contest, but hey it sounds cool right?

Anyway, IMO wait for the Focus RS to at least drive it. The EVO is outdated by today's standards and the STI is too much of the same old, same old. Focus RS or Golf R/Audi S3 are the next generation.

The EVO maybe outdated in technology but that is not always a bad thing. I bought an EVO for the same reason I love my s2000; that it is a very raw performance car that gives me a shit eating grin every time I am on the track.

I could never own a WRX/STI for this reason alone. They sound like an engine that's missing and something's wrong (I know this can be "fixed" with equal length headers). I think they sound like straight s**t.

Evos are more stout. I guess WRXs are plentiful and cheap though.

I would take an Evo 8/9 over all these options. I'm an old school DSM guy, so I'm biased.

RS will have a much nicer interior than all. The new STi is a huge disappointment in that it uses the same bloody motor as last gen.

However, it's really fun messing with the STi's differential, especially in inclement weather.

This post pretty much sums up my opinion on the matter. I believe I'll be waiting for the RS.

Thanks for all the input!

My main concern with the evo would be service. With Mitsu on what seems to be a death march and this being the final evo I would be concerned that dealers would not have the people to handle the car (much like dealers F up servicing the S2000) not to mention the lot kids thrashing your car while it is there.

The focus looks really really cool. WRX looks great and is tried and true and you may be able to get one more easily than the new focus (I would not be surprised if dealers try to tack onto the RS). The Golf R is also a great looking car but VW's seem to just cost more to maintain and purchase in general.

I would never bring an EVO back to the dealer. There are lots of great mechanics dedicated to EVOs just as there are with s2000.

Yeah but it would be a new car so what you are saying is the warranty is basically useless? That would push me towards the others that much faster.
